In the beginning of December each year, the Bayport Blue Point Heritage Association cheerfully decks the grand halls of the historic John E. Roosevelt estate on Middle Rd, for its magical Christmas at Meadow Croft. Traditionally decorated to reflect Christmastime a hundred years ago, the event is filled with classical carols, an appearance by Saint Nicholas, and special yuletide exhibits.
In years past, a large Christmas tree was generously donated by the Bayport Flower House to stand in the parlor beside St. Nick and then, after the festivities at Meadow Croft had concluded, moved down Middle Rd. to the center of the gazebo in Bayport’s Memorial Park for everyone to enjoy through New Year’s Day. While, sadly, the mansion lays silent this holiday season in an effort to combat the spread of the ongoing public health crisis, the Heritage has arranged for Bayport Flower House to deliver and install its customary tree directly to the park instead!
Draped in twinkling lights and topped with a bright star, Heritage President Mary Bailey realized the 2020 Christmas tree, like much of this year, was nonetheless missing something essential... All of us.
And so, with that, the Heritage warmly invites everyone in the BBP community to add your own personal ornament to the Bayport Memorial Christmas tree from now through the New Year, helping to spread joy, not germs, between us.
