Appreciating the Chamber & Grand Marshal

by Danielle Golden Giglio

Bayport-Blue Point Chamber of Commerce held their Membership Appreciation Dinner to kick off the holiday season at Bayport Fire House. And they also officially announced their 2020 St. Patrick’s Day Parade Grand Marshal – Matt McGuire of Blue Point.

It was a festive mood during the Jingle Mingle Hour with tunes by J.K. Hodge and delicious bites to eat from restaurants in the chamber.

Rob Welsh is vice president of the chamber and this is the position that always organized the event. It was his first time doing it and he was glad everything went smoothly. Rob said, “This is just about getting together. At the meetings there is no time to do that and it is great to socialize with everyone tonight.”

Carol Seitz Cusack, president of Bayport-Blue Point Chamber of Commerce said, “We are celebrating our chamber members with good old fashioned fun. We all work hard through the year and this is our way of giving everybody a night to celebrate.”

At her first chamber event Sara Kuhar of Pure Barre Bayport just joined three months ago. “It is exciting now to be a member of the chamber and to meet the owners of all the local businesses that we have always gone to.”

Boy Scout Troop 329 did the opening ceremony and the chamber presented them with their charter for the year. Also Bayport-Blue Point Chamber of Commerce’s Beautification Committee was recognized with special pins for their dedication in raising funds for the lampposts and upkeep of the flowers along Montauk Highway and Middle Road.

After a delicious dinner and amazing entertainment by Skip Pope and Carol, the highlight of the evening was when Lenore Ringer Prezioso announced the 2020 St. Patrick’s Day Parade Grand Marshal – Matt McGuire. Lenore, last year’s grand marshal officially passed the torch to him. Matt is a perfect choice to lead the parade down Montauk Highway in March. He has been president of Bayport-Blue Point Little League for a number of years working tirelessly in growing the league and making constant improvements to the fields for all the children in our community to enjoy.

Save the date for Bayport-Blue Point Chamber of Commerce’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade Sunday, March 15, 2020.
