On January 22, James Wilson Young Middle School welcomed Harlem Wizards basketball player Gerald “Skywalker” Warrick. During his three assemblies at the school, Warrick showed off basketball tricks with the help of student volunteers and taught the middle schoolers about his philosophy of “PRIDE,” which stands for “Positivity, Respect, Integrity, Determination and Empathy.”

Warrick, who once traveled the world playing professional basketball, now spends his time visiting schools with the goal of “bringing everyone together to enjoy and learn from each other.” His visit to the middle school was specifically intended to drum up support for the upcoming basketball game where courageous members of the Bayport-Blue Point faculty and administration will go head-to-head against the Wizards.

The PTA-sponsored event will take place on Thursday, Feb. 13, at Bayport-Blue Point High School from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and aims to build community within the district. To purchase tickets, click here: https://harlemwizards.thundertix.com/events/163389
